Kenya Connoisseur's Safari

1 night Nairobi, 1 night The Ark, 2 nights Sweetwaters, 2 nights Maasai Mara, 8 nights Mombasa.

This exciting safari visits some of the more exclusive and less commercialised wildlife areas of Kenya: the Aberdare National Park, The Sweetwaters Game Reserve and the Ol Choro Oiroua Conservancy in the Maasai Mara.  These wildlife reserves feature a variety of habitats: mountain forest, acacia woodland and savannah plains where a diverse range of animals can be seen including lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, elephant, hippo, rhinoceros, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and various species of antelope.
The luxury camps are among the best in Kenya.  Game drives in the reserves are by 4 wheel drive safari vehicle with experienced driver-guides who are based at the camps.
DAY 1.
Overnight flight from Gatwick to Nairobi with British Airways.
DAY 2.  Arrive Nairobi and transfer to the famous Norfolk Hotel. (B&B)
DAY 3.  After breakfast, a morning drive to the Aberdare Country Club for lunch and then transfer to the Ark, a unique game lodge in the Aberdare National Park overlooking a floodlit waterhole and salt-lick.  The Ark has three decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for viewing the wildlife, including elephant, Cape buffalo, warthog and waterbuck.
DAYS 4 & 5.   Today you will drive to Sweetwaters Tented Camp in the midst of the 22,000 acre privately owned Sweetwaters Game Reserve.  Accommodation is in luxuriously appointed tents and the camp is known for its first class cuisine and excellent service.  Whilst here you can take part in morning and night game drives and a walking safari escorted by an observant and knowledgeable ranger.
DAYS 6 & 7.   A short flight takes you to the Maasai Mara to stay two nights at the luxurious Mara Safari Club in a private conservancy surrounded on three sides by the Mara River.  Accommodation is in luxury tents with four-poster beds.   Enjoy three game drives during your stay, all escorted by well trained driver-guides who have lived and worked in the Mara for years.  In the evening learn more about the Mara’s ecology and the Maasai culture from a lecture in the Club’s library or simply relax and enjoy a 'sundowner' and the sounds of the African night.
DAY 8.  Morning flight back to Nairobi then fly to Mombasa for an 8  night stay at the 4 star Southern Palms Hotel located on the magnificent Diani Beach.
DAY 16.  Transfer to the Mombasa international airport for flight to Nairobi and then on to Gatwick with the British Airways overnight flight.
